This one lifted my spirits -- just in the remembering that, in life, courage and persistence are always good options.

Thank you for this! I know I said I felt rage watching all the insanity unfold on TV and now in schools. I am still angry at the way pundits and politicians are stoking the fire - either through action or inaction! - but I am trying to find hope too. Haven't quite found it yet, but you remind me to keep looking. : )

Dear Mr. Reid,

I wanted to drop by and tell you how much I appreciate you. I loved you on WKRP way back when, but earlier this evening, I was fortunate to catch part of Book TV on C-Span with you speaking on the book, A Better Man. It seems that you have aged like fine wine. :)

I really appreciated what you had to say and will remember your wise words about pundits, the effect of TV upon perceptions, to appreciate how much is good in our youth, the importance of good character, and etc. It was refreshing to hear a good man with a good message in the difficult times we are living in. If I had been among the audience, I would have given you applause standing and a hearty Bravo!

Many thanks and may you be richly blessed in the days and years ahead.

One thing I've consistently observed about US media pundits is how little history they've actually mastered. In this case, the critic quoted would do well to read Yergin's comprehensive "The Prize: The Epic Quest for Oil, Money and Power" to understand the economic history of US/Saudi relations, in a global context.

Let's face it: anything Obama does will be criticized. If he had really greeted the Arab leader as males greet each other appropriately in the Arab world, they would have touched noses and then, some ignoramus would have accused Obama of being bisexual.

See, In order to understand the parallel universe Tim, you gotta tape a few Lipton teabags to your baseball cap first, and THEN you can begin to tune in to their logic :-)

As an elder, your voice should be heard by all young people. It's time for the "now" generation to understand the power of and take responsibility for their words and actions, much like we need the "greed" generation who have wrecked our financial system to come to terms with and change their selfish sense of character. Kudos, brother Reid for your insight and outspoken-ness.
